I joined Oasis’s Board of Trustees in 2026 as Chair, bringing extensive experience in housing, homelessness and local government. I am currently a Director for an East Kent local council and have previously served as a Trustee of a local homelessness charity. Through my work and volunteering, I’ve seen the devastating impact domestic abuse can have on individuals and families and it’s a privilege to support Oasis’s vision of a world free from abuse.

I joined the Oasis Board in 2020 and currently serve as Vice Chair. A member of Margate Rotary Club, I first became aware of Oasis through presentations to the club and later selected the charity as one of my presidential charities. As a retired chartered accountant, I bring financial expertise to the Board. Supporting survivors of domestic abuse is a cause close to my heart, and I am proud to contribute to Oasis’ work.

I have more than 25 years’ experience in the public and voluntary sectors, specialising in project management, funding and leading large partnership programmes that deliver meaningful outcomes for communities. I am passionate about championing the impact of voluntary sector organisations and the difference they make. I believe lasting change happens when people are listened to with empathy, compassion and curiosity, and I am proud to support Oasis’ mission.

I have worked for the NHS for 26 years, with the last decade specialising in Adult Safeguarding across hospital and community settings. During this time, I have developed extensive knowledge of domestic abuse and helped introduce an IDVA service into an acute hospital. In my current role, I work closely with domestic abuse services and VAWG programmes. I joined Oasis to use my skills and experience to support this important work.

Oasis is my first Trustee role and I am keen to contribute my skills while continuing to learn from others. Outside of work, I enjoy horse riding, listening to music and spending time with my two dogs.

I am passionate about supporting survivors of domestic abuse and have developed a specialist legal practice in this area. My connection with Oasis began in 2006, when I volunteered free legal advice and was inspired by the resilience of the people I met. As a Trustee, I have enjoyed supporting the charity’s growth and development. I greatly admire the Oasis team and feel privileged to contribute to their vital work.

I became a Trustee with North Kent Women’s Aid in 2014 while working as an Operations Director for a housing association, bringing expertise in property management and housing services. I later served as Deputy Chair and was involved in the merger between Choices and Oasis. I am passionate about raising awareness of domestic abuse within the housing sector and proud to use my experience to support Oasis’s work.

Sophie Grant

I joined Oasis because I believe everyone deserves access to support when facing abuse and vulnerability. Domestic abuse is a cause that is particularly important to me, as people close to me have been personally affected. I am proud to contribute to an organisation that provides vital support to survivors and helps people rebuild their lives, while raising awareness and challenging the impact of domestic abuse in our communities.
