The sixth annual Oasis Golf Day at North Foreland Golf Club in Broadstairs raised a fantastic £6,400.
The event, held on Friday 8th September, a gloriously sunny day, saw 17 teams of 4 taking to the fairways for a 1pm shotgun start. Teams were made up of North Foreland Golf Club (NFGC) members and Kent-wide businesses, many returning to show their ongoing support for the important work of Oasis and with the event now being a staple in the local golfing calendar.
Taking first place in the charity tournament was NFGC Vice Captain Paul Jefcoate’s team with newcomers Broadstairs Business Club coming very close behind in 2nd. Steve Fuller hit Nearest the Pin on the 7th hole and Mark Brooks won Nearest the Line on the 17th. All winners received golfing prizes sponsored by Lanes Printers of Broadstairs and handed out by Club Captain Tommy Dolan.
The charity was well supported by 18 local businesses who sponsored tees on the course.
The day began with coffee and bacon rolls in the Lighthouse Brasserie, sponsored by Wahl (UK) Limited, followed by 18 holes on North Foreland’s beautiful main course with views out to sea. In the evening, guests were treated to a two-course meal followed by a high-spirited charity auction artfully run by Former Club Chairmans Keith Rumblo and Mike Bastow.
Oasis’s Head of Income, Loukia Michael, says:
“Once again, local businesses and golfers have lent their support to an incredible event and we are so grateful for their generosity. Special thanks to North Foreland Golf Club for their hospitality. The funds raised by our annual golf day allow us to reach more people in our community affected by domestic abuse to help them to recover from the trauma they have experienced.”
Next year’s Golf Day will take place on Friday 27th September 2024. Anyone interested in attending the event or in sponsorship opportunities should contact Claire via firstname.lastname@example.org.
