Independent Domestic Violence Advisers (IDVAs)
IDVAs work with people who are deemed to be at high risk of harm, they can support you with risk management and safety planning. They can also offer legal advice and support for civil and criminal issues.
If your partner is in court for a domestic abuse related crime you might be able to access a Court IDVA via the helpline or your witness care officer. If you are being referred to a Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) you should also be referred to an IDVA.
Our IDVA service works across Kent, IDVAs are available for all victims of domestic violence and abuse, men and women, irrespective of age, race, disability or orientation. You can contact an IDVA at a One Stop Shop, or on the IDVA helpline – 07926 842 183 which is available Monday - Friday from 9.00am to 5.00pm.
Professionals can also consult an IDVA if they are unsure about how to proceed with a case. The access routes are:
- Consultation line for clients and professionals (IDVA helpline) – 07926 842 183
- Online referral form for professionals
- Secure referral for MARAC professionals – download the referral form pdf from, complete the fields and email to firstname.lastname@example.org

The IDVAs are delivered in a partnership called the Kent Domestic Abuse Consortium. The consortium is comprised of four organisations working to end domestic abuse in Kent – Oasis Domestic Abuse Service, Choices, Rising Sun Domestic Violence and Abuse Service and SATEDA.
